CHARLOTTE, N.C. — With just a year before the 2020 Republican National Convention, CLT Host 2020, Inc. today announced six staff appointments who will help lead efforts to host a successful convention over the next year.
Jill Burleson will serve as Communications Director. Burleson has over a decade of previous communications experience and held management positions with TeamCFA Foundation charter schools and served as Chief of Staff to Indiana’s First Lady.
Heather Dodgins will serve as the Director of Donor Engagement. Dodgins’s background includes experience in fundraising most recently with the American Heart Association as Director of Development while also founding Red Pines Consulting, LLC.
Rachel Kelley will serve as Finance Director. Prior to joining the host committee Kelley worked as the West Finance Director at the Republican National Committee for over four years raising funds for the 2016 Presidential election and the 2018 midterms.
Stephanie Batsell will serve as Volunteer Coordinator. Most recently, Batsell worked at the Walt Disney Company for 19 years closely interacting with volunteers, the runDisney staff, and nonprofit organizations to help coordinate volunteers with events.
Haley Habenicht will serve as Events Manager. Before relocating to Charlotte, Habenicht worked as an Events Manager for EAB in Richmond, Virginia, a best practices firm that uses research, technology, and consulting to address challenges in the education industry.
Stephanie Speers will serve as Accounting Manager. Speers previously served as the Manager of Accounting Operations for a West Virginia-based Chemical Technology Development firm.
“We are thrilled to grow our team with this exceptional group of leaders,” said Chief Executive Officer John Lassiter, “Jill, Heather, Rachel, Stephanie, Haley and Stephanie all bring unique experiences and perspectives to help us with efforts to host a great convention.”
Earlier this month, the host committee kicked off official volunteer recruitment efforts. Those interested in volunteering can visit www.Charlottein2020.com to sign up to be included in the host committee’s official volunteer database. The database currently captures general interest and more specific information regarding opportunities and scheduling will be available in late fall 2019 and early 2020.
“As we move closer toward August 2020, we want to learn more about those interested in participating in the Convention.” said Lassiter. “We’re excited to kick off an ongoing dialogue with these individuals and gain insight on their diverse backgrounds and interests, as we energize them to showcase our city, region, and two states.”
CLT Host 2020, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) not for profit economic development organization with no political
affiliation. CLT Host 2020, Inc. is responsible for hosting and funding the 2020 Republican National
Convention to be held in Charlotte, North Carolina from August 24 – 27, 2020.
